Video games did not exist in 1939

Games as we know it did not exist in 1939. Play in this period meant board games, card games, playground games, mechanical penny arcades and fairground amusements. Electronic computers, screens and the whole idea of a video game were still decades away — the first recognised video games appeared in the 1960s and the arcade and home-console boom only arrived in the 1970s.
